The Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) Route

The SQE is the new assessment for aspiring solicitors in England and Wales, introduced in September 2021.

Successful candidates must have passed SQE1 before starting their training contract with us. SQE2 must be completed in your own time during the first year of your contract.

JNP Legal recognises that candidates may have completed periods of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE) with other organisations. The firm is not obliged to accept or credit external QWE towards the period of training undertaken with JNP Legal.

All Trainee Solicitors are normally expected to complete a full 2 year training contract with the firm, regardless of previous QWE. Any request for prior QWE to be taken into account must be made in writing before the start of the training contract. Such requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the relevance, supervision, and quality of the previous experience.

We continue to welcome applications from those who have completed, or are completing, the Legal Practice Course (LPC), as there is a 10-year transitional period for this qualification.
