Work
Lewys Dymond is an Associate Solicitor within the Crime Department at JNP Legal.
Lewys joined JNP Legal as a Paralegal in 2014, achieving his accreditation as a Police Station Representative within the same year. He progressed to his training contract, which he successfully completed at JNP Legal in 2018.
Lewys is a qualified Duty Solicitor in the Magistrates' Court and a Legal Aid Agency Supervisor.
As an Associate Solicitor within the Crime Department, Lewys holds responsibility for guiding Paralegals and Trainee Solicitors through the process of obtaining their Police Station Accreditation, enabling them to represent clients at the Police Station. He also plays a key role in supervising and providing training within the department.
Lewys is also the current defence representative on the Merthyr Tydfil Domestic Abuse Court User Group. The aim of the group is to improve the Court process in domestic abuse cases with Lewys’ role to ensure any improvements does not hinder a Defendant’s right to a fair trial.
Experience and Expertise
Lewys' career has equipped him with a personable approach to client interactions, ensuring that clients feel at ease, regardless of the charges they face. He possesses an in-depth understanding of Criminal Law and consistently represents clients from the outset to the resolution of their cases. This includes:
- Police Station Attendances: Lewys represents clients at Police Stations both during and outside office hours, ensuring expert legal support at critical times. He also attends interviews under caution in various scenarios, including trading standards investigations and benefit fraud interviews.
- Magistrates' Court: Lewys represents clients at their first plea hearings, handles sentencing following case resolutions, makes bail applications, and manages applications to dismiss charges or contested trials before the Magistrates' Court.
- Crown Court: Lewys has extensive experience in instructing Counsel in Crown Court matters, collaborating closely with Counsel to ensure the most favourable outcomes for clients.
Interests
Outside of work Lewys is a keen amateur photographer and can often be found with a camera in his hand exploring the scenery and wildlife of South Wales. He also loves spending time in the kitchen cooking, especially when it involves a bottle of wine.
