Bridging the Gap Between Study and Practice: The Value of Legal Work Placements
At JNP Legal, developing future legal professionals is an important part of our commitment to the profession and the communities we serve. Throughout the summer, we have been delighted to welcome several law students from Swansea University's Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law for work experience placements across the firm.
These placements provide students with a unique opportunity to move beyond the lecture theatre and gain first-hand insight into the realities of legal practice. By spending time alongside experienced solicitors and support staff, students can develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain a deeper understanding of the various career opportunities available within the legal sector.
The placements have proven to be a valuable experience for both students and the firm. Students have had the opportunity to observe client interactions, understand case management processes, and experience the day-to-day workings of a busy legal practice. In turn, our teams have welcomed the fresh perspectives, enthusiasm and curiosity that students bring.

The partnership with Swansea University has been particularly successful, with positive feedback received from students undertaking placements throughout the summer. One student, Winnie Nikoro, reflected on her experience:
"I am very grateful for the knowledge, guidance, and practical experience I gained during my time with JNP Legal. The placement gave me valuable insight into care proceedings and helped me develop a better understanding of the work carried out within the department. Everyone made me feel comfortable and supported throughout my placement, and I really valued the opportunity to learn from the team."
Dr Matthew Parry, Senior Lecturer at Swansea University's Hillary Rodham Clinton School of Law, highlighted the significance of employer engagement opportunities for students:
