Loran Beynon: Growing a Career with Trust, Flexibility and Support

“JNP Legal championed me from day one. I’ve been supported professionally and personally at every stage of my career.”

Early ambitions in law

Loran knew from a young age that she wanted to pursue a career in law. She studied Law at A-level through a Merthyr schools consortium project, allowing her to access a broader curriculum and confirm her career aspirations early on.

Joining JNP Legal

While at university, Loran approached JNP Legal for a weekly placement that could fit around her studies. She was keen to gain experience within a local, high-street practice offering a wide range of legal services. The firm’s strong reputation and cultural fit quickly stood out.

Career progression and internal opportunities

During her final year at Swansea University in 2010/2011, Loran began a one-day-a-week placement with JNP Legal, predominantly within the Criminal Department. This continued throughout her Legal Practice Course at the University of South Wales.

She commenced a Paralegal role in July 2012 and was offered a Training Contract in 2014. Loran qualified as a Solicitor in 2016, initially working in a hybrid role covering conveyancing and lifetime planning. In 2020/2021, she chose to specialise solely in Lifetime Planning and was promoted to Associate Solicitor in 2024.

Learning, development and specialism

JNP Legal has supported Loran throughout her development, including becoming a police station-accredited representative and completing her STEP diploma. A hands-on training approach and encouragement to progress internally have allowed her to build confidence and expertise over time.

Culture, flexibility and support

For Loran, internal progression has enabled her to build strong professional and personal relationships underpinned by mutual respect and collaboration. She particularly values the firm’s flexibility and understanding, which has allowed her to grow her career alongside her family.

Advice for those considering a career in law

Loran advises anyone considering a career in law to focus on finding the right team and support network. She believes the profession can be challenging to navigate without encouragement and guidance, and highlights how important it is to work in an environment where colleagues genuinely want you to succeed. For her, JNP Legal provides that support at every level.
